As a student at BYU, I didn’t always appreciate the emphasis on spiritual learning. I took a very casual approach to my faith. Since graduating and moving on to graduate school, I’ve come to be truly grateful for my time there. I wish I had taken advantage of opportunities to ask the tough questions that weighed on my mind to the professors that I trusted. My advice to any and all LGBTQ+ students there now is to take advantage of this time to figure out your faith. Regardless of the path you choose later, reconciling your belief and your sexuality is part of your unique experience.
